Mckenzie family- New addition

How do you spell “love”?- Piglet

You don’t spell it you feel it- POOH

Oh how I love photographing families outside. The beautiful Alberta sky and farm field in the background were perfect for this photo shoot. It may have been a little chilly but that didn’t stop this family from showing how much they love each other and are excited about the “New” sister addition to come!

Kristy and Kris Dream Wedding

And I’d choose you; in a hundred lifetimes, in a hundred worlds, in any version of reality, I’d find you and I’d choose you.

When one of your best friends asks you to photography her wedding you just can’t say no. It was an honour to witness these two get hitched and start their lives together. The happiness and joy coming from these two was amazing and made me smile the entire day.

First Hike of the Year

I love the first hike of the year. It’s a time for new adventure, to enjoy the great outdoors. Some of the greatest Mountains in the world are in my backyard, it would be a shame to not explore. Each year I try for a new hike, new areas and different landscapes that I can photograph. The natural beauty always takes my breath away.

This photo was from Grassi Lakes. The colour and depth of the water pulled me in. I loved the stunning teal with the pop of green from the trees and the mountain contrast from behind.

Elopement at Emerald Lake

I choose you. And I’ll choose you, over and over and over. Without pause, without doubt, in a heartbeat. I’ll keep choosing you.

My first elopement session of the year. I was honoured to be chosen to witness and also photography this amazing couple, who happen to be close friends of mine. Each session is unique and allows for that couple to shine through. Colin and Amy are both avid skiers and love the outdoors. Having their elopement at Emerald Lake was a perfect choice.

Child Curiosity

Always remember you are

Braver than you believe

Stronger than you seem

Smarter than you think

and twice as

Beautiful as you’ve even imagined.

  • Dr. Zuess

This was one of my first photo shoots with a child. It was amazing to see the sparkle in her eyes at the bubbles floating around her. Sometimes as adults we forget to enjoy the small things, to take stock of the moment. This is one of the reasons I enjoy photographing children and families so much!

Introduction to Wayward Soul Photography

Welcome to Wayward Soul Photography. I wanted to start my blog posts by introducing myself and what Wayward Soul Photography is all about!

First, my name is Alysen or Ally, a nickname I’ve had since I can remember. I grew up on a farm just west of Olds, Alberta and I loved every minute. Horse’s have always been part of my life and therefore I wanted to bring them into my Photography sessions.  As you can see above, Jagger, my sisters horse was very curious and wanting some attention that day. Clients will quickly learn I love to laugh and have a easy attitude about me. I enjoy people and their stories and how I can  bring out those stories and emotions through photography.  I work best in the great outdoors, I find it allows for some of the best photos. I am always open to new ideas or concepts you may have when it comes to your family photos, engagement session or any other photo sessions.  Any questions or inquires please feel free to email me. I am excited to work with all my new clients in the future!
